100 Year Old Model Airplane Engine

It is not clear what the provenance of this little steam engine is. It appears to be a rotary valve engine with the valve being in the aft end of the crankshaft. Note that the wooden propeller is still partially in place. It appears to be a counter-flow engine and not the preferred uni-flow design. Years ago steam engines were the only show in town and thus used for everything from running sewing machines to little model trains to building the Panama Canal. | ||
