July 8-13, 2018 Eastern Invitational Steam Car Tour

The Marshall Steam Museum and Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve (FAHP)

The Marshall Steam Museum and Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve (FAHP) are proud to host the 2018 Eastern Steam Car Tour. Tour Chairman Tom Marshall and the Tour Committee are already busy making plans for an extraordinary itinerary.

The 40-room block at the original host hotel (Fairfield Inn & Suites) is almost full (but availability can change moment to moment, so please check if interested in booking there), so we have arranged a special rate (only a little more) at another nearby location, which will also be the site of the closing banquet. We encourage anyone who is thinking about attending to book now (especially if you have particular room requirements). The hotel blocks can fill quickly, as we saw with the Fairfield Inn & Suites, and there is no penalty for cancelling if you do so at least a week in advance of arrival, so make your reservations now to ensure accommodation!

Host hotels:

  1. Inn at Mendenhall, 323 Route 52, Kennett Pike, Mendenhall, PA 19357, with trailer parking on-site and complimentary hot breakfast buffet. We have arranged a special rate of $119/night (plus tax) for Sunday through Thursday nights; for Friday, July 13, the group discount rate will be $145 (plus tax). Important notes: (1) these rates expire May 24, 2018, and (2) the closing banquet will be held at this location. To book, call (610) 388-2100 and identify yourself as part of the Marshall Steam Museum (Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve) group (sorry, there is no online reservation option for the group rate at this hotel).

  2. Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott (Kennett Square, PA), with trailer parking at the hotel & complimentary breakfast. We have arranged a special rate of $115/night (plus tax), but space is extremely limited for Friday night, July 13. Click here to book online or call the hotel at (610) 444-8995 and identify yourself as a participant in the “Steam Car Tour” to receive the special rate.

  3. LAST RESORT OPTION: Hilton Garden Inn Kennett Square, 815 E Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, PA 19348. A block of rooms has been reserved for the modestly discounted rate of $169/night (plus tax). Rate does not include breakfast, and trailer parking has not been confirmed. We found a lesser AAA rate ($164/night) online, so we encourage participants to check “regular” rates to confirm best options. Click here to book online and receive the pre-arranged $169/night rate or call the hotel at (610) 444-9100 and request the Eastern Steam Car Tour rate.

Please reserve your room(s) now! There is no charge to make a reservation, and you may cancel without penalty as long as you do so 1 week before your arrival date.

We hope you will plan to join us next summer! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email or call 302-239-2385.   Website
