Steam Car Enthusiasts, The 2024 Eastern Steam Car Tour will be held on June 9-16 in Bardstown Kentucky. https://www.bardstownmotorlodge.com/ I have contracted with the Bardstown Motor Lodge to consume all 35 of their rooms. To do so they have the following requirements from our group: Please book directly within this link to see availability and receive the group rate: https://reservations.travelclick.com/114882?groupID=4000691 Once the 35 rooms are consumed additional participants will need to reserve their own rooms at nearby hotels. My ask is that we all support the group reservation before looking outside. The Fire-up and Blowdown Banquets will both be held at the Motel and the "My Old Kentucky State Park & Museum" will allow us to station our trailers there for the week. More details to follow. Where: Warrensburg, Missouri (just east of Kansas City) When: October 16 through October 19 (four days of touring) What: For the Western Steam Car Tour, we’re going to do an informal tour. No banquets, no registration fee, no mile-by-mile instructions – just a laid back good time. The road system in this area allows for simplified route instructions consisting of a map and a few brief directions The area is distinctly rural. Mostly low hills and pretty countryside. On Saturday, October 19 we will steam to “Steamapalooza” - an event sponsored by the Jowetts. Dave and Chris run a shop where they work on steam traction engines. The target audience is the traction engine hobby. They fire up some of their engines, and people bring working models. They always run their sawmill, and do other stuff with the engines. They put on a big feed, and we are invited. Mid-October is usually quite nice in this area. However, in the event the weather turns cold, you might want to bring an enclosed gas car if you have one. After all – this is an informal tour. Accommodations: We have a block of rooms at two hotels, which are across the street from each other. Contact information is below. Rooms rates at both are $89.00 for a single, with $5 or 10 dollars for an extra. In both cases the deadline for making reservations is one month in advance. The parking lot at the Quality Inn is flatter, but both should be fine for our purposes. Comfort Inn Warrenburg Station, 609 East Russell Ave,, Warrensburg, Mo 64093. 660/429-4848 and 660/429-4850. We would appreciate some idea of the level of interest in this - obviously no rush. This way we can prepare restaurants for the influx of business . Give Joe Graziana a call (618/558-7956) or Dick Friedeman (620/786-5331). We can also answer any questions you may have. |
