American Steam Automobile Company -
Tommy Derr

TAmerican Steam Automobile Company-Tommy Derrhis is the last Tommy Derr steam automobile built.  It is the one pictured on page 191 of Floyd Clymer’s Steam Car Scrapbook, the classic Red Book of historic steam information.  In the present configuration the car has the Derr boiler up front and a 20 hp Stanely engine mounted as are all Stanleys.    American Steam Automobile Company-Tommy Derr
At one time this was Derr’s experimental car and it had a V-4 poppet valve engine in front and the boiler in the trunk.  The V-4 was not fully developed and therefore at one time Howard Langdon owned it and he sold it, years ago, to a night club owner in Miami, one Woody Allen.  Someone should locate the engine.

American Steam Automobile Company-Tommy Derr   This American Steam Automobile has four wheel mechanical brakes and a Beckett 12 v. gun burner firing the Derr boiler.  The controls are similar to the Stanley water automatic because this is also a water level boiler.  That is me standing beside the car after a one hour ride around town.
