McNeir Pinto Steam Conversion

George McNeir of Wilmington, North Carolina spent years working on converting a Pinto station wagon to steam using a 20 hp Stanley engine.  He bolted this engine to the rear axle although he mounted it so the engine heads were near the rear bumper whereas in the original Stanley and in most other conversions the heads point toward the front of the vehicle.  He made several monotube steam generators, withthe last one being made of stainless steel with Swagelok fittings between each coil.    McNeir pinto Station wagon conversion
