Thorne Multiple Boiler
This is what a Thorne Multiple boiler looks like when left out in the rain for twenty years. A good whole brochure for this boiler can be seen on Don Hoke’s Virtual Steam Museum website. It was made in Chicago in the 1920’s as a replacement for the Stanley boiler having the same dimensions and the same surface area for heat exchange.
It weighed 200 pounds more. There was a lot of welding in this construction and many cast parts.
