Joe Warner was originally from Nova Scotia and lived in Medford Connecticut most of his life where he was a prolific builder of steam engines. This is his steam engine #10 made in 1965.
It is a V-4 of 2 ¾” bore and 3 ½” stroke single acting uniflow with a cross-head and gland between the piston and crankcase to keep steam and water out of the oil. Heads with poppet valves are with the engine but were taken off and replaced with a slide valve because of noise.
